Welcome to Savannah

There's a secret the Savannah locals know. The very best parts of this old city, the sights that awe you and make a home in your heart, you can only get to them on foot. These old brick lanes and cobbled streets were made for ambling, for pauses, and sighs of surprise - for moments of pure delight.

We're proud to be Savannah's premiere family-owned luxury walking tour company.

We're glad you're here, friend. Let's walk a while.

A SAMPLING OF RECENT REVIEWS . . .

  • “My girlfriend and I did two tours with Genteel & Bard - one was their daytime Savannah history tour, and the other was their nighttime ghost tour.Bar none, this was one of the best tours I've ever been on. T.C. was a limitless fount of energy and knowledge during both tours, and his passion for his home city and all of the fun facts about it was contagious!”

  • “Our guide TC was absolutely amazing. . . It felt like TC was sharing the city’s history for the first time—he was very knowledgeable, energetic, passionate, and entertaining, and his enthusiasm was genuine. We learned an awful lot about the city, past and present, and he even gave us a great recommendation for lunch afterwards. The ear buds are a very nice inclusion, so that we could still hear him even if we lingered back for a bit.”

  • “One could not have hoped for a better guide! The enthusiasm and knowledge and love of the area was evident and greatly appreciated. This should be on everyone's list of things never to miss.”

Hidden HIstory of Savannah

Savannah Authors, and owners and curators of Genteel & Bard, T.C. & Brenna Michaels

We get a lot of questions about Savannah History - and most seem extra interested in the stories behind the stories, the mysteries, the dramas, the little-known details and intricacies that make Savannah the city she is today.

Here’s a look at our book, Hidden History of Savannah - available on Amazon!

Savannah has repeatedly stood on the edge of ruin, brought to its knees by bloody battles, mysterious pestilence, fire, unforgiving weather and the drums of war. Men and women whose names echo in history once walked its streets. Countless other faces are seemingly forgotten, names that history held in looser grip--like Mary Musgrove, the colonial translator and entrepreneur, or Dr. Samuel Nunes, shipwrecked by chance on Savannah's coastal shores just in time to curb a deadly epidemic and save Savannah's first settlers. And then there's John Geary, the larger-than-life Union general who beat Sherman's march south to the sea. Join authors Brenna and T.C. Michaels as they explore Savannah's long, wide and very often hidden history.
