Essentials to bring along for your Savannah Vacation

No matter what time of year you choose to visit Savannah, you are more than likely to be met with warm, tropical temperatures. Even during the winter, it rarely drops below 50! As a coastal city, there’s no shortage of cute and flowery fashions to sport on the town!

Savannah’s lush greenery and meticulously landscaped gardens and parks compliments our city’s preppy-chic aesthetic. It’s sundress season almost all year, so be sure to pack those floral and flowy numbers! If you’re visiting during the spring, go for peachy, rosy and pink- you’ll match the stunning flowers, and it’ll be impossible to capture a bad photo! Make sure you also pack shorts and walking shoes, though- Savannah is a walking city, and on average people will walk upwards of two miles per day! (What a way to shop til you drop!)

Speaking of shopping; if you plan on bringing home souvenirs, be sure to bring an extra bag to carry them in! You may think you’ll find just a few neat trinkets, but as a local who frequently wanders (totally by accident, I swear!) to Savannah’s shopping district; I have to warn you. There are so many unique things in the shops, from Grade A local honey to stunning, handmade glass sculptures- there’s something for everyone!

Savannah is also home to so many stunning nature trails and wildlife parks. It is SO worth traveling for even half the day to the trails just outside the city, like the Wormsloe Historic Site and the Oatland Island Wildlife Center. However, as beautiful as our coastal and marshy scenery is; it’s home to a wide array of tiny, buzzing locals! Be sure to pack your bug spray! If DEET isn’t your thing; you can find local, handmade bug spray at almost any store in the city, as well as the visitor shops at the nature trails and parks!

While you’re thinking about protecting yourself from the elements, go ahead and toss that big, floppy sun hat in your bag! You know the one- and yes, you can totally pull it off! Pair it with a dramatic pair of sunglasses, and be ready to have your southern-romance-novel moment while sipping a latte under those stunning live oaks!
