Things to do with kids in St. Augustine, Florida
There is no shortage of things to do with kids in St. Augustine, Florida. This historic city has something for everyone, and its many kid-friendly attractions make it a great place to bring the family. Here are just a few of the many things you and your kids can enjoy in St. Augustine:
1. Visit The Alligator Farm just outside of downtown St. Augustine. A fan favorite, The Alligator Farm is home to more than 2,000 alligators and crocodiles, as well as a variety of other animals. Kids will love getting up close and personal with these creatures! For the especially brave, try a zip line over the zoo!
2. Head to the Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest standing fort in the United States. This 17th-century fortress is open to the public and a great opportunity to teach little ones about early Spanish culture in America.
3. Take an adventure walk or bike ride on the Anastasia Island State Park. This beautiful park has something for everyone, from nature trails to a kid’s playground. It’s also home to the St. Augustine Lighthouse, which offers great views of the area.
4. Go on a shopping spree amid the various souvenir shops and art galleries in St. Augustine’s historic downtown area.
5. Visit the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum, where kids can learn all about the city’s pirating past.
6. Challenge the family to a put put tournament. There are several courses around the city, and it is a fun way to spend an afternoon outdoors. Our favorite place for put put is Fiesta Falls Miniature Golf. This ocean-side course is SUCH a great time. We prefer to go in the evening when it’s all lit up and feeling a little extra magical.
Take a Genteel & Bard Ghost and Pirate Tour! If your kids are big enough to handle a little bit of scares, then they will love taking a ghost tour around the city, learning all about St. Augustine’s storied past, complete with star-crossed soldiers and swashbuckling spirits!
Get dessert at one of St. Augustine’s many candy shops. What kid doesn’t love candy? St. Augustine has several great candy shops, and letting everyone pick out their own sweet treat is a great way to end a day of exploring the city.
